A prominent real estate developer and two other men were killed when their twin-engine plane crashed and exploded on a residential street in South Lake Tahoe. No one on the ground was killed or injured. Witnesses said the plane had just taken off from the South Lake Tahoe airport and appeared to be having engine trouble before clipping some trees and cartwheeling into the middle of the street. The victims were identified as Charles Maddox, 52, the pilot; Albert Amour Jr., 45, both of South Lake Tahoe, and Kirk Nairne, 30, of Zephyr Grove. Nairne, the developer of Ridge Tahoe, a time-sharing resort, was developing a 9,000-acre resort in St. George, Utah, for which the plane was headed.
