Torrance : Limits Changed, Radar OKd
The City Council this week approved changes in posted speed limits on four streets to allow police enforcement of speed limits by radar. Under state law, radar can be used only if an engineering and traffic study has been done within the past five years to determine the most suitable limit, according to city Transportation Director Arthur Horkay.
The changes are: Torrance Boulevard between Hickory Street and Western Avenue from 30 to 35 miles per hour; Western Avenue between the south city border and Torrance Boulevard from 35 to 40; 190th Street between Prairie and Western avenues from 45 to 40, and 223rd Street between Abalone Street and Western Avenue from 25 to 35.
