2 Santa Ana Locations : 6 Accused of Running Cocaine, Heroin Ring

Six men and women were arraigned Friday in Orange County Municipal Court on a variety of felony charges in connection with a suspected cocaine and heroin distribution ring operating out of two Santa Ana houses, authorities said.

Orange County Deputy Dist. Atty. Ron Cafferty said bail was set at $500,000 each for Alonzo Aguilar, 30, David Burgos, 35, Jose Galeano, 44, Patricia Rios, 21, Ruth Rios, 24, and Ismael Almazan, 37. They face various charges of conspiracy, possession and possession for sale and offers to sell heroin and cocaine, he said.

The suspects were arrested Wednesday in Santa Ana at 828 Van Ness Ave. and 1606 W. Raymar St. after an investigation by narcotics officers from the state Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement and police departments in Santa Ana, Fullerton, Whittier and Fresno.

Authorities seized nine pounds of high-grade cocaine and about 10 ounces of heroin with a combined street value of about $2.7 million, according to Van Coleman, supervising special agent with the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement. Six handguns also were seized in the searches of the two houses, he said.
