Roundup : Freshman Leads Newport Christian to Two-Overtime Win
Newport Christian High School freshman Wayne Everett scored 15 points and made a couple clutch shots Friday night to lead the Conquerors past Avalon, 53-48, in an Academy League game in double overtime at Newport Beach.
Everett sent the game into overtime, tying the score, 41-41, on a 10-foot jump shot with three seconds left. It was still tied, 44-44, after one overtime as Newport Christian’s John Adachi hit a baseline jumper with three seconds left. Everett secured the win for the Conquerors by making two free throws with six seconds left in the second overtime. He sealed the victory by stealing an inbounds and scoring at the buzzer.

Orange Lutheran 85, Capistrano Valley Christian 37--Matt Zaun scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Orange Lutheran High School to an Olympic League victory over Capistrano Valley Christian Friday night at Orange Lutheran.
Lmanyeo Scott added 14 points for the Lancers, who improved their record to 5-4 in league and 13-5 overall.
Jay Hawthorne and Keith Patefield shared scoring honors for Capistrano Valley Christian (0-9, 4-11) with 10 points each.
