Partner in Theft From Business Gets Probation
The former wife of a murdered insurance executive was sentenced to three years’ probation Wednesday for her role in the couple’s theft of more than $1 million from his firm.
Gloria Evans, 52, of North Tustin was also ordered to pay restitution and to perform 250 hours of community service work by Superior Court Judge James Smith.
Arthur Lee Evans was murdered last year after being granted several postponements for the start of his one-year county jail sentence in the theft case. His mutilated body was found in the Angeles National Forest.
Philip Dean Fry, charged in Evans’ murder, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 21.
Evans owned Republic Insurance Brokers Inc., once the largest insurance brokerage in Orange County. The firm folded in May, 1982.
