2 Motorists Hurt When Car, Truck Collide at Costa Mesa Intersection; 1 Driver Held
Two motorists were seriously injured when their vehicles collided after one of them apparently ran a red light Wednesday night, police said.
Pedro Perez, 24, and Jesus Hernandez, 23, both of Costa Mesa, were listed in stable condition at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital Thursday.
Police had to use a hydraulic cutting device to free Perez from his 1977 car, which had collided with Hernandez’s 1986 pickup, police said.
Sgt. John FitzPatrick said Perez was driving southeast on Bear Street when he allegedly ran a red light at the Bristol Street intersection.
His car collided with Hernandez’s truck, which was heading southwest, FitzPatrick said.
Perez was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, police said.
