Fullerton : Muckenthaler Center Open for Weddings
The lush gardens and secluded setting of the Muckenthaler Cultural Center, a national historic site and one of the county’s premier cultural centers, will be open for weddings and receptions beginning May through September.
The center, which houses city-sponsored art exhibitions, educational programs and a theater-on-the-green, has been used for more than a decade as a site for weddings and receptions, according to Joe Felz, the city’s community services supervisor.
Located at 1201 W. Malvern Ave., the center was built in 1924 as the dream home of former city councilman Walter Muckenthaler and his wife, Adella. After Muckenthaler’s death in 1958, the two-story house and the nearly nine acres of land surrounding it were donated to the city to be used as a cultural center.
Felz said that ceremonies at the cultural center may be held on a portion of the grounds called the Italian Gardens from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendance will be limited to 125 guests.
