A key witness against the neo-Nazi group The Order was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Portland, Ore., and apologized for his role in the white supremacist sect’s plot to overthrow the U.S. government. U.S. District Judge Helen Frye imposed the sentence on Denver Parmenter II, 33, of Cheney, Wash., and joined in a recommendation of early parole. Parmenter was arrested Dec. 28, 1984, in Seaside, Ore., 10 days after Order founder Robert Jay Matthews died in a fiery shoot-out on Whidbey Island, Wash.
