‘Stone Pillow’ Gets Gold Angel Award
CBS’ “Stone Pillow,” a drama about a homeless “bag lady” starring Lucille Ball, was given a Gold Angel award as the best television special of 1985 by Religion in Media at its ninth annual awards banquet Thursday night at the Ambassador Hotel.
“The Trip to Bountiful,” starring Geraldine Page, won a Gold Angel in the motion picture feature category, a spokesman said. “Shoah,” a film about the Nazi-era Holocaust by Claude Lanzmann, was given the Gold Angel for documentaries.
Gold Angels also went to the coverage of the Hollywood Bowl Easter Sunrise Service by CBS radio and KTTV Channel 11.
Among the 158 Silver Angels to film, broadcast, recording, video and print works, the Los Angeles-based organization headed by television religious show host Mary Dorr awarded 25 to three Christian television networks--11 to Christian Broadcasting Network of Virginia Beach, Va., and seven each to PTL Network, Charlotte, N.C., and Trinity Broadcasting Network, Santa Ana.
