Chain to Open 7 New Stores
The Richmond, Va.-based Circuit City chain of electronics stores will begin its second Southland expansion wave Friday with the opening of stores in Northridge, San Bernardino and Montclair.
A Hollywood store will open March 15, followed on March 28 by stores in Lakewood, Van Nuys and Pasadena. Additional stores are planned this year for Compton, Commerce, Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, Fresno and Costa Mesa.
Circuit City began its Southland operations last November with the opening of seven stores in Laguna Hills, Huntington Beach Orange, Buena Park, West Los Angeles, Woodland Hills and Torrance.
The company is spending an average of $1 million to remodel each location, with design by Amie Gross, New York City. Circuit City stores range in size from 20,600 to 41,793 square feet.
