A drive to raise funds to set up a suicide prevention hot line in Seal Beach will continue Sunday with a luncheon and celebrity bowling event.
The Seal Beach Rotary Club has raised about $9,000 from previous fund-raisers, president Don Lanier said. He said Sunday’s activities are expected to raise the additional $5,000 to $6,000 needed to begin the program.
The 24-hour hot line would be geared toward prevention of teen-age suicide and information about the service would be distributed in seven high schools in surrounding cities, Lanier said. It will be staffed by one full-time professional and a corps of volunteers.
For $75, supporters will get a lunch and then bowl three games with a group of celebrities, including TV actors and professional football players. The event will begin at 11:30 at Rossmoor Bowling Alley, 12311 Seal Beach Blvd.
