Mt. St. Helens Ash From 1980 Eruption No Threat to Health

PORTLAND, Ore. — The tons of ash Mt. St. Helens spewed into the air in a devastating May, 1980, eruption appears to have caused no long-lasting health problems, scientists reported Friday.
The American Journal of Public Health released a 90-page supplement with several scientific articles evaluating the health effects of volcanoes, including data from human and animal studies conducted after the eruption of the southwest Washington peak.
