Teen Killed, Mother Hurt: An Anaheim teen-ager was killed and his mother seriously injured when their car struck a curb, spun out of control and hit a light pole on Broadway west of Hessel Street, police said. Paramedics pried the two from the vehicle Saturday with a mechanical device and rushed them to UCI Medical Center, where Derek Douglas Willeford, 18, died at 7:30 p.m., according to Lt. Marc Hedgpeth. Cheryl Ann Willeford, 39, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Police said an investigation into the accident is continuing.
