The Region : Woman Guilty in Murder

A Marina del Rey woman was convicted of having shot her attorney husband to death after he discovered that she had embezzled thousands of dollars from his friends and law clients. Linda Sue Jones, 32, was found guilty on a single count of first-degree murder in the Feb. 28, 1984, death of Lewis D. Jones, 54, and also on six counts of grand theft arising from embezzlement of $500,000 from accounts held in trust by her husband. Prosecutors said she stole the money to cover gambling losses. She testified that she had “borrowed” the money on instructions from her husband. Jones faces a possible sentence of 25 years to life imprisonment when sentenced April 10.
