OSCAR
I saw “Out of Africa” and “The Color Purple” and, except that they are both motion pictures, there is little comparison.
The first was at best an average film. The latter was one of the most absorbing stories ever to come out of Hollywood, so superbly directed and acted that I couldn’t get it out of my mind for days following.
What could have possessed the academy that they completely ignored a masterpiece? The academy lost much of it credibility the other night.
