Rockwell Picks Lunney to Head Satellite Unit
Rockwell International Corp. has promoted Glynn S. Lunney to president of its satellite systems division in El Segundo.
Lunney, a 30-year NASA veteran and considered one of its “whiz kids” in the 1970s, joined Rockwell in June, 1985, as executive vice president of the satellite systems division.
While at NASA, Lunney was U.S. technical director of the Apollo-Soyuz mission that linked U.S. and Soviet spacecraft. Most recently, he was program manager for space shuttle operations in Houston.
Rockwell’s satellite division designs, develops and builds space vehicles and related systems. It is currently building satellites for the Navstar Global Positioning System, a sophisticated navigation network, under a $1.3-billion Air Force contract.
