Building-Limits Initiative

The Reasonable Limits Initiative proposed by Braude and Yaroslavsky is like a breath of fresh air.

The “mindless development” they refer to is not limited to commercial development, however. Condominiums and apartment buildings are going up at a breathless pace in Sherman Oaks and Studio City. The quality of life in these communities has already been diminished by overdevelopment. Traffic and parking problems are horrendous. The sidewalks along Ventura Boulevard are dirtier and the air quality cannot help but be adversely affected by the ever-increasing traffic flow.

Without some sane approach to development, both commercial and residential, communities like Sherman Oaks and Studio City will gradually become undesirable places to live.

Approval of the Reasonable Limits Initiative will tug at the reins of overzealous developers and remind them that the citizens of Los Angeles will not allow so-called progress to take precedence over the quality of life.
