Jimmy Connors will replace Wimbledon champion Boris Becker in the $250,000 Suntory Cup tennis tournament at Tokyo this weekend, organizers said.
Becker, 18, withdrew from the tournament last Sunday after the West German suffered a right thigh injury in a 6-7, 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 loss to Anders Jarryd of Sweden in the WCT Finals.
Connors, currently serving a 10-week suspension that will last until June 8, is eligible because the tournament is not a sanctioned tour event.
