Georgians Burn Brie, Onion Dip Over French Policy
KENNESAW, Ga. — About 100 residents of Kennesaw, the town that requires its citizens to own guns, burned Brie cheese, French-made jeans and even french fries and onion dip to protest France’s refusal to let U.S. warplanes use its airspace en route to bombing Libya last week.
“With Allies Like This, Who Needs Enemies?” read one sign carried by the protesters, who built a massive bonfire and burned everything they could find with a French character.
Police Chief Dwaine Wilson termed Friday’s protest “a little different,” even for a town that requires its citizens to own guns.
Earl and Beverly Nobles took the day off from work to attend the demonstration. They burned a pair of Bonjour jeans and a picture of a French town.
