An Oxnard police officer was arrested on suspicion of forcible rape in Simi Valley Wednesday after the victim’s father heard her cries for help and called police, Simi Valley police said.

Kenneth Michael Myers, 29, a seven-year veteran of the Oxnard Police Department, was off duty when he was arrested without a struggle by Simi Valley police in a home in the 1600 block of Cayton Avenue, Lt. Bob Klamser said.

Myers was being held Wednesday night in Ventura County Jail in Ventura, Klamser said. Bail had not been set.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, of Simi Valley, resisted the attack, police said. She was treated for minor injuries at the Ventura County Medical Center, Klamser said.

Police suspect that Myers followed the young woman into her father’s house, Klamser said. The father, who was in the house, heard screams and called police, he said.

“Responding police officers arrived in three minutes and found the suspect in the process of sexually assaulting the victim in the kitchen,” Klamser said.
