Moorpark Tops Canyon in Softball, 12-2
The Moorpark College softball team scored six unearned runs on five errors by College of the Canyons errors to win a Western State Conference game, 12-2.
Judy Fitzgerald was 4 for 4, scored four times and had three runs batted in to lead Moorpark (20-9 overall, 8-1 in league). Teammate Peggy Liebel was 3 for 4 and scored twice.
Moorpark pitcher Karen Mead won her 14th game in 18 outings this season. She spread out four hits and no earned runs, while striking out seven.
Debbie Murrin led College of the Canyons at home, going 2 for 3 with a run scored.
