Take My Picture Wins Silver Spoon at Hollywood Park
Take My Picture rolled to an easy 1-length victory in the $64,000 Silver Spoon Handicap for fillies and mares at Hollywood Park Saturday.
In the co-featured $65,700 Debonair Stakes for 3-year-olds, Bolton closed from the rear of the field to win by 7 1/2 lengths.
Take My Picture took the lead a few strides out of the gate, opened a four-length advantage turning into the stretch and then--without urging--held off Eloquack. Le L’Argent, closest to the eventual winner in the early stages, held on for third in the field of five.
Take My Picture was timed in 1:09 3/5 for the six furlongs. Ridden by Gary Stevens, Take My Picture was sent off at 2-5 odds by the crowd of 25,500. She returned $2.80, $2.60 and $2.10. Eloquack, with Bill Shoemaker up, paid $5.20 and $2.10. Le L’Argent paid $2.10 to show.
In the Debonair, Laffit Pincay brought Bolton wide on the turn for home to hold off the late-closing Jetting Home under Darrel McHargue. Sovereign Don, with Chris McCarron aboard, finished third.
Sent off at 9-1 odds, Bolton returned $20.40, $8 and $3.60. Jetting Home paid $6.20 and $3.20, while favored Sovereign paid $2.40 to show. Bolton was timed in 1:24 for seven furlongs.
