Yellow Lights
I have driven in Los Angeles for the past 14 years and am becoming more and more appalled by poor driving habits. This past year I have become aware of a tremendous number of drivers who do not even attempt to slow down for a yellow light.
This has resulted in increasing numbers of cars running red lights, and has made it very difficult to make left-hand turns (as it is impossible to guess which oncoming car will stop when the light turns yellow and which will speed on through).
As a physician, I am very concerned about this increasingly frequent and dangerous situation, as it is a tremendous safety hazard. I realize that in today’s high-pressure society, time is precious, but so is our survival. Please remember that yellow lights should trigger a reaction to brake and not to accelerate.
