Trimmers Recalled for Fan-Cap Defect
Black & Decker Inc. said Tuesday that it is recalling 647,000 weed and grass trimmers because their fan and cap assemblies may fracture and throw splinters that could cause injuries.
The company that said it knew of 102 incidents of fan-cap breakage on its Push Button and Command Feed Weed-Grass Trimmer, some of which had resulted in foot or leg injuries.
The following trimmers are being recalled: Black & Decker models 8243 (Types 1&2), 8251 (Types 1&2) and 8255 (Type 1); Montgomery Ward models XBA 2098A, XBA 2098B and XBA 2099A; and McCulloch Corp. models MAC 30 (Type 1) and MAC 40 (Type 1).
