Steve Lucero Wins Cycling Main Event at Speedway Races

Steve Lucero of Riverside won the scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night in front of 6,982 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Lucero defeated John Sandona of Riche Canyon, Mike Faria of Colton and Robert Pfetzing of Garden Grove in the four-lap event.

Gary Hicks of Glendale won the five-lap handicap main event, Bob Simons of Simi Valley won the second division main and “Pinkey” Blake of Huntington Beach won the third division main.

In a match race, Shawn McConnell of Fullerton defeated Riverside’s Keith Crisco.
