Delays can cause chaos at airlines’ hub airports, with air traffic congestion and bad weather among the primary reasons.
Newark, N.J., airport had the nation’s worst record in March, the latest month for which figures are available, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Newark had 108 delays of 15 minutes or more per 1,000 flights during the month.
Here are the March records for some other major airports:
John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, 46 such delays per 1,000 flights; Denver, 45 per 1,000; Salt Lake City, 23 per 1,000; Los Angeles International, 22 per 1,000; Atlanta, 18 per 1,000; Dallas, 11 per 1,000.
