AST Research Inc., responding to recent new product announcements by IBM, said it will lower its prices on certain add-on boards that it makes for IBM’s PC, AT and XT computers. The new prices, which were effective May 1, lower the cost of AST’s most popular product, the SixPak Plus, to $245 from $395, according to Thomas Yuen, executive vice president for corporate development for the Irvine company. Yuen said AST has also introduced a new “premium” version of the SixPak designed to work with the IBM AT and XT models.
