Tried Some B
After reading Jerry Hulse’s Feb. 23 article about bed and breakfasts we decided we had to try some he mentioned. We have to report that the Old Monterey Inn in Monterey was far and above any we have ever visited. The gardens are “truly remarkable,” as noted. We especially loved the flower-laden Mexican fountain that greeted our entry. The 10 rooms, most with wood-burning fireplaces, are individually decorated in lovely soft colors and most inviting. We loved having our breakfast brought to our room to enjoy in front of the fire. And ah, such a breakfast of fresh orange juice, tons of fresh fruit and tall, tall popovers, with homemade berry jam and good hot coffee.
We recommend it highly to those romantic souls looking for a special getaway. Rates $110-$135. Special accommodations, $150 and $165.
