Saudis Tell Foreigners Not to Flout Ramadan
From Reuters
MANAMA, Bahrain — Saudi Arabia has warned all foreign residents that they face dismissal from their jobs, stiff penalties and deportation if they eat, drink or smoke in public in daylight hours during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
The warning was contained in an Interior Ministry directive, reported by the official Saudi news agency Sunday.
The lunar month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, is due to start next Friday or Saturday, depending on the sighting of the new moon.
