Saving in London
The Bargain Corner on April 20 listed numerous passes for Great Britain. Unfortunately, the writer left out the best bargain of all, the London Travel Card. You will not hear of it until you get to London, as travel people do not publicize it. The Travel Card is a commuter ticket used by people who live in London. For the visitor, the best buy is the Zone 1 ticket, which allows unlimited underground and bus travel within the territory of the Circle Line on the underground. The cost is 4 (about $6) for seven days. If you travel beyond the zone you pay an extra fare, but it is less than if you bought a one-way ticket.
It is available at any underground station. You need the equivalent of a passport picture and there are photo machines in many stations.
