Hacienda Heights : Landfill Bill Shelved
Sen. William Campbell (R-Hacienda Heights) has shelved his bill to phase out landfills in residential areas, and has asked the Senate Local Government Committee to study the problem at the end of the current legislative session.
Campbell said his bill, which would phase out all dumps in residential areas over a five-year period, has run into opposition and there is a need to study alternative approaches to waste disposal. Rather than push his bill in the face of tight legislative deadlines, Campbell said he will seek an interim study hearing.
