Plans Announced for U.S. Space Memorial

WASHINGTON — A foundation headed by former astronaut Eugene A. Cernan announced plans Friday for a national campaign to establish a memorial recognizing America’s achievements in space and those who “challenge the frontiers of space.”
The American Space Memorial Foundation Inc. hopes to raise as much as $50 million to build a memorial and finance education programs and scholarships, he said.
