A court order to transfer the owner of an Alabama mercenary training camp to California to face charges involving two car bombings in Southern California was upheld by a U.S. District Court judge in Birmingham, amid evidence that Franklin Camper has worked with and around federal agencies involved in anti-terrorist activities. Camper, owner of the Mercenary Assn., and three of his associates face charges of arson, conspiracy and use of incendiary devices to destroy automobiles belonging to former teachers who worked at schools owned by Dana Point residents Elizabeth Leta Hamilton and Charlotte Ruth Wyckoff, who have also been arrested. Meanwhile, at a detention hearing held in Birmingham, U.S. Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Agent Tom Miller of Van Nuys testified on Camper’s cooperation with the government in a case involving a plot to assassinate Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Camper has also worked with the ATF and possibly other government agencies, the agent said.
