San Diego Rowing Club Places 1st, 3rd, 4th
The San Diego Rowing Club took first place in two events and placed third and fourth in another Sunday at the California Junior Rowing Assn. championships at Lake Merced, near San Francisco.
Liz Waldman and Michelle Petrick placed first in the women’s pairs race with a time of 6 minutes 48 seconds. Bret Cafady won the men’s wherry race with a time of 6:09. A wherry is a single boat that is heavier and flatter than a normal single shell.
In men’s singles, Dan Burkhart placed third (6:22) and Jimmy Warmington was fourth (6:38).
The championships continue today.
