Three 91st Army Division reservists remained hospitalized after 21 soldiers from the unit came down with a mysterious ailment, the Army reported. It was not clear exactly how many of the soldiers were originally hospitalized, but 13 were reported taken to Oak Knoll Naval Regional Medical Center in Oakland, another four to Valley Memorial Hospital, and at least two to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley. “We don’t know what it was,” said 6th Army Presidio spokesman Bob Mahoney of the incident at Camp Parks, a reserve training center near Pleasanton. An investigation was launched. Mahoney said the symptoms were dizziness, blurred vision and nausea. One report said a pesticide may have been at fault, but a report from the center discounted that.
