Continued Development in the Face of Traffic Saturation

The other day, driving on the San Diego Freeway in Orange County, supposedly on a leisurely trip to Irvine, I was surprised to find that 60 m.p.h. is not the usual speed of traffic. I was, in fact, traveling five miles over the posted legal speed limit. The world passed me (on both sides). Some even had an unkind word or gesture to indicate their displeasure.

However, on the bright side is the fact that I passed seven vehicles in the course of a 20-mile trip. Two of these were hauling heavy equipment, three were parked on the shoulder, and two were piloted by elderly people with thick glasses.

Conclusion: Driving under 70 m.p.h. can be hazardous to your health.
