Motorola, a leading manufacturer of two-way and mobile communications systems, semiconductors and components, government electronics and electronic equipment, reported that it more than doubled its second-quarter profit to $55 million.
The net earnings of $55 million came on sales of $1.5 billion, a 9% improvement over the comparable period a year earlier. During the 1985 second quarter, the company earned $26 million on sales of $1.37 billion.
The continued recovery of the semiconductor products sector, along with a stronger international performance, were major factors in the improved performance, the company said. Motorola said demand for its microprocessors was at an all-time high.
