HALOP ‘COURT’ ROLE NOT RECAST

Florence Halop, who died last week of cancer, will not immediately be replaced on NBC’s “Night Court” series, in which she played bailiff Florence Kleiner.

Executive producer Reinhold Weege said that he intends to “try some guest characters” to see if any of them work. Halop’s role will be written out of existing scripts. The show begins production this week for the coming fall season.

Halop earlier became known to NBC viewers as the cranky Mrs. Hufnagle on “St. Elsewhere” before succeeding the late Selma Diamond on “Night Court” last year.
