Robert L. Sinsheimer will retire June 30, 1987, as chancellor of the University of California, Santa Cruz, UC President David Gardner announced. Sinsheimer’s retirement will come after he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 67. Gardner said a committee to assist in the search for a new chancellor will be named soon. Sinsheimer is the fourth chancellor at UC Santa Cruz. He previously spent 20 years at Caltech in Pasadena, the last nine years as chairman of the biology department.
