North Hollywood Man Kills Wife, Injures Son Before Killing Himself
A 56-year-old North Hollywood man shot and killed his wife Sunday and critically wounded his son before turning the shotgun on himself, police said.
The afternoon shooting apparently resulted from a longstanding family dispute, Los Angeles Police Detective Howard Landgren said.
The dead man, who was found inside his apartment in the 7200 block of Lankershim Boulevard, was identified as Harry Watson.
His wife, Brenda, 36, died after surgery at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, officials said.
She had been shot in the upper body, police said.
The couple’s 18-year-old son, Arnold, was wounded in the abdomen and was reported in serious but stable condition at the same hospital.
He climbed out a second-story bedroom window after being shot, police said.
Three others relatives, who were not identified, also fled by climbing out windows and sustained minor injuries, police said.
