Tom Tait to Replace Frank Zini as the Editor of the Daily Pilot
Tom Tait, managing editor of the Daily Pilot for the past year, will become editor of the Costa Mesa-based newspaper on Aug. 15, according to publisher Karen Wittmer. Tait will replace Frank Zini, who is taking a position with a Pennsylvania paper, the Delaware County Daily Times. Both the Daily Pilot and the Daily Times are owned by Ingersoll Publications Co.
Zini had been an editorial writer at the Pennsylvania paper until 1984, when he become editorial page editor of the Daily Pilot. Zini served as the Costa Mesa paper’s associate editor and managing editor before being named editor. Tait joined the Daily Pilot in 1983 as city editor and was named managing editor last year. Previously, he had been managing editor of the Camarillo Daily News.
