Jackie Palmer of Los Angeles hasn’t been able to find fitted top sheets for five years, but she’s bedding that some of our readers know of a source. So can you help before Palmer has a fit, or will she have to really blow her top before someone comes to her rescue?

Mrs. S. M. van Heusen of San Clemente, who was looking for white Pima cotton shirts with short sleeves (her husband has sensitive skin), may have to keep her shirt on for a while longer. Corrine K. Gelbard of Burbank writes that the fabric Van Heusen is looking for is used primarily by the Troy Shirtmakers Guild of Glens Falls, N.Y. An inquiry to them might provide a source in her neighborhood. Gelbard adds that Bullocks Wilshire and Saks Fifth Avenue also have carried Troy Shirtmakers Guild shirts and might have additional information. And reader Thomas I. McClintock of Ventura, who used to wear these shirts in the past, states that he has not seen them at all on the West Coast. He adds, however, that an even finer grade of cotton is--or was--available from Brooks Bros. in Downtown Los Angeles; the product to ask for is Sea Island cotton shirts--”expensive but superb,” according to McClintock.

For Angelita Wadsworth of Orange, who was looking for shelf brackets for floor-to-ceiling tension poles, we have sources but they are poles apart. Cheryl Bakeman of Yucca Valley says to go to Builders Emporium, Builders Supply or other big hardware stores. And Roberta Horowitz of Pasadena says she left about three dozen of these poles with the handyman when she moved from her Tustin apartment and that the man may still have a few left and may be willing to part with them; we have forwarded the name and address to Wadsworth.

The wheels are spinning for Jeanne Khan of Glendale, who’s looking for training wheels for adult bikes. B. Conant of Van Nuys says that the All Pro Bike Shop in Simi Valley, (805) 583-4296, carries such training wheels.

Lyn Yeomans of Whittier, who needs cotton-twill tape for her volunteer work at the Whittier Historical Museum, need not become unraveled; help is on its way. James A. Corwin of the Conservation Department at the Huntington Library states that the tape can be purchased from Talas, 215 West 35th St., New York, N.Y. 10001, (212) 736-7744. Pat Gunderman of Orange mentions the Home-Sew Catalogue, Bethlehem, Pa. 18018, as another source. And Estelle C. Bushaw of La Habra suggests Newark Dressmaker Supply, 6473 Ruch Road, P.O. Box 2448, Lehigh Valley, Pa. 18001, (215) 837-7500.

In addition, several readers said they had tape in various lengths and widths that they would let the museum have, and the names and addresses have been sent to Yeomans. And last but by no means least, Marlene Galloway of Cayucos has sent a batch of tape in various colors.
