It Didn’t Really Help Romanick’s Confidence
I’ve decided that Angel General Manager Mike Port must be taking employee relations courses from George Steinbrenner.
Obviously, Ron Romanick was a struggling young pitcher this year. His performance made that clear. But for anyone who didn’t notice, Port told reporters after each unsuccessful outing that Romanick’s tenure with the club was increasingly shaky. It had to be great for a 24-year-old’s confidence.
What a guy to work for. Not only must Romanick’s confidence be destroyed, but what does this say to every other player in the organization?
