San/Bar Wins Contract for County Microwave Job

San/Bar Corp. has been awarded a $1.7-million contract to make and install microwave links for Orange County’s government telephone system.
The Irvine-based San/Bar said that work is scheduled to begin later this month and that it is scheduled to install the last of 25 links it is making in May, 1988. Contel Business Networks of Atlanta, the prime contractor for the 10-year, $73.2-million project, is subcontracting the job to San/Bar.
Orange County’s Board of Supervisors awarded Contel the contract in May after four years of study. Representatives for the county, which now leases telephone lines and equipment, say the system could save as much as $263,000 a month for the next 10 years.
