NANCY REAGAN WILL HEAD TV ACADEMY’S DRUG-ABUSE TALKS
First Lady Nancy Reagan will be the keynote speaker at a two-day symposium on drug abuse to be sponsored by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
Mrs. Reagan will address television industry leaders on the first day of the symposium and will be followed by conferences between TV executives and experts in substance abuse. A daylong seminar on drug abuse will take place the following day.
Richard Frank, president of ATAS, said that the object of the symposium is for TV executives and producers to come up with a plan of action to use the TV medium to help combat drug abuse. Frank, who is also president of Walt Disney Studios, the film and TV division of the Walt Disney Co., added that drug use within the Hollywood community will be addressed.
