The Polish sailboat that arrived late in New York for the Statue of Liberty centennial is overdue in Chicago, and the Coast Guard on Friday began a search for it on the Great Lakes.

The Stomil left Buffalo, N.Y., on July 31 with a six-man crew. The vessel was permitted to travel on the lakes until Friday, Coast Guard Petty Officer Michael Milliken said. He said that there had been no indication of trouble aboard the yacht.

The single-masted, 35-foot vessel reached New York Harbor four days late for the Fourth of July celebration after its engine broke down en route.
