Accused Night Stalker Richard Ramirez was sued for $20 million by the family of two of his alleged victims. The action, filed in Pomona Superior Court Aug. 7, alleges that Ramirez shot Elyas Abowath of Diamond Bar to death while Abowath slept and raped his wife on the night of Aug. 8, 1985. Ramirez, 28, a drifter from El Paso, is charged with 14 counts of murder and 31 other felonies in connection with the Night Stalker attacks that terrorized Californians last summer. A hearing on a motion to move Ramirez’s trial out of Los Angeles County is set for Nov. 3; trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 2.
