La Habra : Girl, 15, Fatally Injured When Pickup Overturns

A 15-year-old La Habra girl was killed over the weekend when a pickup truck pulling a trailer rolled over on eastbound California 60 in Riverside County, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said Monday.
Julie Smither was riding in the bed of the Toyota truck just after noon on Saturday when its driver changed lanes, lost control and drove onto the center divider, CHP Officer John Anderson said. The girl died later that day of massive injuries. Three other north Orange County girls, ages 14 to 17, were injured in the accident. They were treated and released from Riverside Community Hospital. The truck’s driver was uninjured. An investigation is continuing.
