Emulex Corp., a Costa Mesa maker of computer equipment, has initiated full manufacturing operations in a 50,000-square-foot building next to its corporate headquarters. The company recently completed renovating the building for $2 million.
The building, which was formerly owned by Babcock Electric, houses the company’s manufacturing, testing and quality control operations. It will also be used for the low-volume manufacture of existing computer equipment and for start-up production on future products. The new building also serves as a purchasing, materials and shipping facility.
Emulex also owns a 52,500-square-foot facility in Dorado, Puerto Rico, which was built three years ago to house the company’s high-volume manufacturing operations.
