Norwalk : Search for College President
The Cerritos College Board of Trustees has scheduled a special meeting for Monday to discuss the selection of a replacement for college President Wilford Michael, who has announced his retirement effective at the end of the year.
The 7:30 p.m. meeting is scheduled to explore how a new president will be selected, said Mark Wallace, public information director.
William Meardy, the executive director of the Assn. of Community College Trustees, a nonprofit consulting firm, will speak to the board on various methods of searching for a president. The board is also expected to review written materials from other search firms, Wallace said.
No decision is expected to be made at the meeting.
Michael, 64, was head of the college for more than 13 years.
In a related action, the board has decided not to fill the position of vice president of instructional services until a new president is chosen.
The trustees, which had problems filling the position, last month hired Noel Korn, retired vice president of academic affairs at East Los Angeles College, to fill the position on an interim basis.
